The Outstanding Independents Awards Canada (OIAC) program celebrates independent convenience retailers who demonstrate excellence in entrepreneurship, innovation and community engagement across Canada.
Launched by Convenience Store News Canada, with CICC as the founding association partner, this national program recognizes single-store owners and small operators (1–20 stores) who play a vital role in their communities and in the broader convenience retail landscape.
The OIAC program recognizes retailers who stand out in areas critical to modern retail success, including:
- Tenacity and Business Growth – Demonstrating resilience and the ability to grow and compete in a challenging retail environment
- Innovation and Differentiation – Adopting new technologies, distinctive store designs and inventive business practices
- Customer Loyalty and Service – Delivering exceptional value and creating preferred shopping experiences
- Community Contribution – Actively supporting local communities through donations, events and volunteerism
Award recipients will be featured in Convenience Store News Canada, recognized online, and celebrated at the Small Operator Summit.
Nominations are open until February 6, 2026.
