Exciting News: ACSA integrates with CICC

To our convenience industry partners,

In 2019, the leaders of Canada’s convenience industry came together to create the Convenience Industry Council of Canada. Their vision was to provide a unified voice with more streamlined governance and infrastructure.

Today, we are that voice to governments as well as the national champion for our channel. The founder’s vision of improved governance, consistency on key messaging and better collaboration with all stakeholders is thriving.

A truly successful national association is one that ensures that there is on-the-ground representation in each region of the country. To that end, we are delighted to announce that effective March 31st, the Atlantic Convenience Stores Association (ACSA) will integrate into the CICC.

Mike Hammoud will become CICC’s Vice President, Atlantic Canada and the ACSA will become part of the CICC. David Button, CEO of North Atlantic Petroleum will be joining the CICC Board of Directors.

We both couldn’t be happier to be working together to enhance CICC’s advocacy efforts nationally and provincially. While streamlining advocacy efforts in Atlantic Canada, this move will also provide greater value to vendor partners based in the region who will now benefit from more retailer participation in events.

One of CICC’s commitments to the industry from the outset was that we would streamline events. We recognize it is not feasible for all of our stakeholders to attend the CICC’s annual summit. As a result, the two golf tournaments, the Retail Convenience Awards and the Atlantic Convenience Expo will still take place as CICC-hosted events in the Atlantic region.

We look forward to working with you, our partners, to champion the convenience industry’s role in our communities and work for a business environment where all convenience businesses can succeed.
